Bridges Family Wellness Fall Newsletter 2016
It’s Time to go Back to School
New school years bring new challenges and bring out old issues.
Back to school time is a great time to schedule a check up for both kids and parents. The return to a structured schedule can be difficult after a summer of fewer commitments and time crunches. Let us help you get back on track whether it is talking through routine, helping reestablish sleep patterns, sports physicals, or getting the immune system ready for cold and flu season. We can help, and here are a few tips.
Dehydration can lead to headaches, low energy, trouble focusing, and upset stomachs.
SET UP A STUDY SPACE
Have a dedicated space ready for school work where all needed tools are available.
A good night’s sleep and a full belly with energy-sustaining protein can go a long way to a good day.

What’s New at Bridges?
We have been going through some major shifts over the past few months; here is a summary:
We have moved our front desk area and added many more rooms. Before May, we occupied one-half of our suite. On May 2 we took over the second half. This has allowed us to have a much larger and more welcoming waiting room at the front of the office, and we now have two wings of treatment rooms. The former waiting room is now designated as a classroom where we will be hosting more events. Keep an eye out for posters as well as event postings on our website and Facebook page.
Besides the physical expansion, we have also added more friendly faces. Kirsten Isakson has been offering Acupuncture for the past several months, and she will soon by joined by Elizabeth Bourgeois who will also be offering acupuncture. With two working rooms, they will have plenty of space to help you on your way to healing. Jan Bell has also joined us and is providing Orthobionomy services. This is a fantastic gentle healing treatment that works very well for a variety of conditions. If you are interested, you should give it a try.
Other new additions include:
– A staff room with washer/dryer. No more hauling laundry home for Dr. C
– A fully functional lab.
– An expansion of our herbs and supplements allowing us to store items in bulk and pass the savings on to you.
– Dr. C now offers Craniosacral therapy.
We are still looking for a few more practitioners to join us including another Primary Care Practitioner.
Dr. Currey is always finding new books to read and add to our lending library. Remember that we have several cookbooks as well as books on a multitude of subjects ready for you to check out for 3 weeks at a time.
This summer, some of Dr. C’s favorite additions have been as follows:
First Bites a book about how we develop the taste for different foods. Super Better about how to turn all of your self care strategies into a game. The Wonder Weeks a great book about the neurological developmental steps during a child’s first 15 months of life.
Keep your eyes out for these and other additions in the coming months.
